Danish Wakeel SS13 – ‘Peacock Revolution’

Designer Danish Wakeel showcases his latest flamboyant collection entitled ‘Peacock Revolution.’

Held at Hilton London Metropole, the night began with an informal drinks reception. When seated, the show opened with saxophone and clarinet performances which blended a quintessentially English vibe with a jazz edge: a true depiction of Danish Wakeel’s collection.

Danish Wakeel’s ‘Peacock Collection’ fuses exuberance and colour with the glamour of the 60’s to ultimately bring exoticism to Britain.

With luscious  fabrics, bold colours and an assortment of patterns, Danish Wakeel has attempted to brighten men’s wardrobes.

The colours and designs are clearly vivid, bold and eccentric compared to the norm. When speaking with two male models Kristian Crowe and Buom Tihngang, they both agreed that they would definitely wear the formal wear and suit jackets.

Kristian liked the ‘cut, different colours and hemming’ and explained that the collection ‘accentuates the male form.’ Buom found the collection ‘cool’ and that the colours complimented his skin tone.

The ‘Peacock Revolution,’ otherwise described as ‘The Embodiment of Extravagance’ in Danish Wakeel’s introductory video, extended exoticism to women’s wear.

Although we have had quite a good summer this year, I am unsure as to whether London could pull off such exoticism. But we will have to wait and see whether this is a look that will be embraced!
